"Please help us Obi-Wan, you're our only hope..."

Hey there, I've got some newsy investigating for you guys! What is going on over at BioWare with its Playstation 3 support? Obviously we are still waiting for RTO, but its not the "waiting", its the "how we are waiting". Just check out their boards: [social.bioware.com]

Absolutely zero comments from the company to their PS3 users over the past month. Pc & Xbox threads are getting hijacked by angry sony users, its total anarchy! Any clue why a company would just clam up and leave so many unhappy owners hanging?

So much hatred on this page... O.o

I just wanted to say that the shirt and the game arrived, they are both very awesome and thank you very much! I can't believe I actually won something in a contest. You guys are great.

You need to answer for this: [kotaku.com]

You can't just remove people's star, remove their ability to comment, or ban people outright with zero explanation why. I did nothing to deserve having my star removed. I was not hostile, confrontational, or offensive in any way. I even said at the end that I am not trying to tell you how to do your job. Are you so insecure in your beliefs and motives that you have to censor everyone who may pose a differing opinion? How did someone so cowardly end up in charge of a major publication?

There are plenty of people who saw my comment and agree that your reaction was completely out of line. I in no way deserved removal of my star, and to do so without explanation is just downright rude. Do you really have no spine that you can't even explain to me why you felt the need to take away a very important communal symbol? At least it's important to me.

I valued the community at Kotaku. I also valued the leadership's constant push for better commenting tools and an overall better community. It showed you actually cared about what we, your readers, had to say. Lately however, your actions have shown that you don't care at all about what your readership thinks.

First it was the infamous "Modern Warfare 2 Faceplate Review" ([kotaku.com]), where you banned Voltimand ([kotaku.com]) and disabled the commenting of Lysdexia ([kotaku.com]). What possible purpose did you have for such harsh reactions? Because they called out your obvious money-grubbing review, and it's absolute pointlessness? No, definitely not. Not someone of your incredible integrity. Then there was the amazing Dante's Infero Q&A session, where every other comment was deleted so that you Mr. Game Director guy wouldn't have to answer any tough questions from the people who would be paying his mortgage by buying his game. Yeah, we don't deserve any type of answers from him. We're only his target audience ya know. And now you have this. Reducing my position in the community because I, what? suggested a way to make the site more efficient whilst adding new content for your readers? Wow, when I type that out it's just so obvious how horrible I was for thinking I that might be a good idea. That was sarcasm. Typically I would assume that people would be smart enough to figure that out, but then I remembered who I was talking to.

You are not running some shitty Wordpress blog and have a reader base of a few hundred. You are running one of the most widely-read gaming sites in the world. Fucking be a man and don't take every differing opinion as a direct insult. You are in no way going to gain any respect in the world when your only answer for people with a different outlook is to silence them outright.

I understand that the picture was over the line, and honestly I should've been banned for that. I am absolutely fine with not being able to comment or be part of a community that is run in fear of what the followers might say.

I think my depiction of you was quite accurate, if I do say so myself.

I wanted to know if the prizes for the Zelda contest were mailed out and if any of the finalists received them yet?

Its been over 2 weeks since they winner was announced and i have began to get worried. I sent my address twice by private message to this and twice in email form and no response as to what was going on.

So what is going on Brian?

CLSKBC on Dec 31, 2009 (Private)

Brian -

I was wondering if, during the selection process for the Zelda contest, you are going to follow the rule about the Kotaku signs that each participant had to be holding in order for the entry to be considered valid. Though many of the entries are cool and interesting, they lack the Kotaku sign. If these people were to be considered participants in the contest, I don't think that would be fair to the people who made sure that all of the rules were followed, such as myself and the human triforce guy.

Also, I'd like to quote a part of the contest page. "Proving that you're a big, huge fan of a Zelda is old hat. We'd ask and you'd deliver with amazing, inspired photos of yourself posing, showing off items, doing silly stunts. But that's been done to death.

Recruiting others to your cause, now that shows true dedication.

Here's what we want to see from you: Photo or video proof that you've convinced friends, congregations, schools, entire stadiums of people that the Zelda franchise is the best around."

Does this mean that entries that don't have converts will not be eligible to win?
